In previous articles I have written about some of the differences between public and private schools. There is no one that is better across the board. It depends on a lot of factors such as:

  1. You. You are the number one factor that determines whether one or the other is for you.
  2. The school that you work for. No two private schools are the same and no two public schools are the same.
  3. The country you want to teach in. While no two schools are the same there can be some common ground such as working hours, requirements to teach, materials used, etc.

You have to determine what works for you and only you can do that. Maybe there is not a clear answer, maybe there are pluses and minuses to both.

So if you hear someone say don't teach in a private school (hagwons, buxibans, training centers, or eikaiwa) or don't teach in a public school don't listen. You have to find out what works for you. Here are some more articles on teaching in a public or private school.
