Learn how to teach beginning essay writing to children

There are a few ways that you can do this activity. The first way is to create a list of questions and have your students answer them. I like to create a piece of paper with a space on top to draw and lines below where they can write. Here are some example questions. You can adjust these to suit their level or age.

  • What's your name?
  • How old are you?
  • What school do you go to?
  • What grade are you in?
  • Do you have a brother or sister?
  • Where do you live?
  • What can/can't you do?
  • What's your favorite color?
  • What do you like/don't like?

For the lower levels create an easier cloze like activity.

My ____ is ____. I'm ____ years ____. I have one older ____. ___ is ____ years old. I go to ____ elementary school. I'm in the ____ grade. I live in _____. Etc.

How's it going? I am Ian. If you found this to be helpful you canĀ sign up for the latest updates of new blog posts and other resources that I create.

"Hi Ian! I loved the course! It wasn't really difficult, but it was not easy - and I feel like I learned a lot. I definitely plan to continue using the resources. I have applied for and set up over 7 interviews already in China. If you add on various additional certs, like Young learners and what not I would take those. I plan to take a job in China and blog about it for the year to qualify for the 1000 hour cert. Thanks so much for an awesome learning experience" - Sandra Dee Bonadonna, TEFL 120
