Reviews of ESLinsider's courses can be seen below. There are currently two courses: a basic course and the main one TEKA. This online TEFL course was formerly called the Advanced and before that 120 hour course, but it has undergone several iterations and improvements since then. Formerly there was also a 20 and 60 hour course.

Please read these 2 points before leaving a review.

  1. Use your email and name (or last name abbreviated such as "Ian L.") that you used in the course. Constructive criticism is o.k, but if you do not use your name and/or email used in the course then your review and comment may be deleted because then it is likely that you did not take the course and that you may be a troll out to damage the reputation of ESLinsider like this guy is doing.
  2. Mention the course that you took.

On the bottom of the page there's a video where I selected some of what I consider to be some of the best reviews on ESLinsider here.

I enjoyed taking this course. I struggled with teaching kids and I never knew my way around a classroom but this kids gives you very practical ideas and lessons that work with kids and keep them engaged! Ian was also very accessible and gave me feedback on each assignment and in depth explanations were I went wrong. I highly recommend for any teachers starting out!

Practical and informative course

Review
At first I was sceptical about taking this course mainly because you have to dig quite deep to find it. However, once again by finding and taking this course I realized that not all good things are easy to find and not all very well advertised stuff is necessarily of good value.
Having said that I am really happy that I have chosen to take this course. Content in this course is well structured, includes loads of practical material as well as practical tasks that let you to comprehend and memorize learned content even better. No boring stuff. Moreover, Ian was always very attentive and helpful with any questions I would have. Thank you very much for not wasting my time, but teaching useful skills!

The course has a lot of useful information, effective tasks for writing lesson plans and a lot of videos that teach and also are the basic materials for starting the practice of teaching. Ian is very attentive coach, always in touch, and always resolve issues in the shortest time.

Not Well-Known, Yet Has Invaluable Information and Advising From a Great Teacher
4 year(s) ago.
Review
At first I was hesitant to take Ian's Advanced Course, since there didn't seem to be much information about it online. However, I can now say with full confidence that Ian has put together a masterclass catalog of teaching materials, each presented in a clear and logical way, with a great website to re-find anything if needed. The course pages seem to be frequently updated and Ian is incredibly quick to respond to submitted assignments or messages. Direct communication with Ian is a huge plus. There are a few assignments to submit (Lesson Plans, mainly) and Ian gave me very detailed and meaningful feedback on every one. Also, the certificate looks very professional. I have no complaints about the course and everything exceeded my expectations!

Thank you Kyle. I liked your review and you are right ESLinsider is totally unpopular^^ at least when it comes to TEFL courses.

I found this cool quote from Seth Godin.

"Regardless of how you measure 'best' (elegance, deluxeness, impact, profitability, ROI, meaningfulness, memorability), it's almost never present in the thing that is the most popular."

And that might imply that I think my course is best, yet it's not for everyone. I just made a site/course based around my experience teaching in Asia.
Teaches a lot of practical skills

I have finished the advanced course, formerly known as 120h course, and I've found it to be very informative. It focuses mostly on practical skills that you can use in a classroom. There are lots of videos which show you how to teach. Highly recommended!

Informative and straightforward

Review
I found this course after literally hours of searching online and reading reviews on other 120-hour courses. ESLinsider has been extremely informative and Ian provides detailed feedback on the submission tasks which is fantastic. Not only that, but the materials and resources that are available is quite extensive and can be easily tweaked for the level you're teaching.

The course was straightforward and the methods provided will be a great help when I start teaching next year. Thank you ESLinsider!

You got it Nhu! Just so everyone else knows the "Advanced" course was formerly named a 120 hour course.

I took the Advanced (120 hour) course. I was quite overwhelmed when I began looking for online courses for a TEFL certification, but during my search I stumbled upon Ian's ESLinsider. I can honestly say that this course was very easy to understand and introduced materials, games, and activities that I am actually excited about using in my classroom.

A great, comprehensive course and a great value for the money

Review
The course was a great value for my money and gave me the tools to begin this new career. Covered all aspects of teaching from theory to practical tips. Was easy to move through because it wasn't all text-based -- there were plenty of videos that gave real-world examples of the teaching. I feel better prepared and have the backup of the course that I can refer to later if I need help. My only complaint would be that I wish the TEFL certificate looked a little more professional. Overall, absolutely would recommend.

Thanks Laura. I looked closer at the certificate and made some adjustments to the text on it so that it is more centered.
TEFL 120 Hour
5 year(s) ago.
Review
I took Ian's 120 hour (now called Advanced) course two years ago and it was one of the best investments I made. I had been teaching in Korea for six years up to that point and had to learn through trial and error on the jobs I worked which was not easy. Ian's course is practical and based on actual experience in the classroom, not just dry theory. The videos were extremely helpful in the process and I still refer to them every now and then when I need ideas for class. While the course is not overly difficult, it's certainly no walk in the park as you do have to pay attention and take notes. I really wish this course had been around during my early years in Korea because it would've helped so much more than the so-called orientation and training I did for a week in Seoul when I started with EPIK. I highly recommend these courses if you are serious about gaining practical knowledge of ESL teaching from someone who has been there.
